day1: 30 day photo challenge

A 30 day photography challenge sounds like a lot of fun until you learn day one is a self portrait..ughh. But since I encouraged my girlfriends to start this (yes you have me to blame)...well... I'd better suck it up and take a picture. So here you have it: baby in one arm, while the other sleeps so I figured I'd better not set Addi down for fear that she would make too much noise and wake Cori!!

Since this isn't Glamor Shots I didn't go through the trouble of dolling myself all up... I am loving the fact that it is summer... which means pony tail and no makeup! I think the last day of the challenge is another self portrait... maybe by then I'll feel like looking my best :)

Now the artist in me thinks of a self portrait not just as a picture of my face but a picture of who I am... so I will include this picture:

When I see this picture I see: a baby on one hip, my wedding ring, my newly painted pink fingernails, and my funky koi fish shirt... which says I am: a mommy, a wife, a girly girl, and an artist... now if only Cori didn't take her little Bible to bed I would have stuck that in my pocket to show that I am a child of God.

A few months after Cori was born we splurged on a really nice camera... more than just a point and shot... however that is how I have been using it. So I am hoping that through this challenge I can try to take some better photographs... step away from the point and shoot and learn how to use manual and a few other settings to get the best pictures I possibly can!

SUMMER!

School is out for the summer!!!!!!!!! Mommy is home for the summer!!!!!!!!!!
So much to do and so little time... will we get everything done?


There will be weddings... the Little Lady, Mr. A.A. and our girls at my cousins wedding.

There will be lots of sisterly love... whether we want it or not!

There will be a lot of firsts.... like cereal and squash!! Which she is loving!!

And crawling... yes, crawling. We are in for an active summer!
And loving every minute!!!

24 on the 24th

I would love to blog every day or every week for that matter with little glimpses into our daily/weekly life... our laughter, our serious times, and our drama (especially at 2 1/2!). But that hasn't happened yet, so don't get your hopes up! Instead, I have a new idea... this month it will be 24 pictures on this the 24th day of the month. (Next month I plan to pick a smaller number)

Addi's shirt was just right for today... went to the library and Hobby Lobby... and she was simply perfect. Cori on the other hand was wearing her Little Miss Trouble shirt and she pitched a fit all through HL and all the way home! Talk about a day!! But I love these days at home... Happy Spring Break!

This is my sweet Addi Jean! Who is sleeping in my arms right now... which I know can't and won't last forever :(
It seems like just yesterday this was Cori (+ a full head of hair) and today she is such a little girl! Who is taking swim lessons, playing little mommy, and sings her own version of Jesus loves Me.
Today Addi is my little caterpillar and I am excited to watch as she too grows into a beautiful butterfly!

Baby Number 2

We had our ultrasound yesterday and got to see baby number 2!!
All looks goods: est. weight about 1.3 lbs, great looking spine, stomach, bladder, and kidneys, 4 beating chambers of the heart, lots of movement from the hands and feet, and all the little facial features!!
The only problem was our wonderful doctor was running behind after already having two deliveries before out 9am appointment... so that means we only these two pictures until the baby comes.

They are a little hard to see... but I will try my best to explain.
In the picture on top you are looking at a little foot.... if you can see where the arrow is those are the toes going in a vertical line... the heal is to the left.
In the picture on the bottom you are looking at the profile of the head... the arrow is in the cheek cavity with the face looking up.
Like I said not the most clear but more to look forward to on delivery day.

The doctor also gave us one other piece of news with the ultrasound.... he said not to bet the farm, maybe just a six pack but it looks like we are having A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!

So the search begins to find another girl name... how in the world are we going to follow a name like Cordelia? (guess you will have to wait til November to find out!!)

Summer Loving

It seems that I have fallen way behind on this blog... and now I can' t find some of the pictures I want to fill you in on the last six months.

Here are some recent pictures of Miss Cori.... she is loving the nice weather and every morning asks to go out"side?" She has a new swing set with a slide and if I let her would probably spend hours out there!!

We will most likely have great tans by the time school starts again ;-)
